Authentic Aurelio’s Family Pizzeria
This restaurant review was a hosted event. All opinions are my own.
Located in the East Cobb neighborhoods of Metro Atlanta you will find the authentic Aurelio’s Family Pizzeria. Aurelio’s has a creative Chicago style pizza menu that dates back to 1959. This authentic menu consists of handcrafted salads, pizza, calzone’s and pasta exploding with bold flavors in every bite. My husband and I were invited to trying Aurelio’s Family Pizzeria, so we chose to have our weekly date night there and our experience was fantastic.
The moment we walked into the cozy intimate restaurant, we were greeted by the owners Paul and Laura Vitt, along with their friendly staff. After ordering our drinks Paul sent out his favorite appetizers, timing the delivery to our table one by one. Fried Ravioli’s with a rich red sauce was the first flavorful treat we tried. These breaded cheese filled ravioli’s had the perfect amount of seasoning to start off the palate parade of food to follow. A sensational salad bowl was the next item delivered. This beautiful bowl was a display of vibrant vegetables including romaine lettuce, red peppers, green and black olives, banana pepper, pepperoni, mozzarella cheese slices, and a zesty homemade Italian dressing. The mixture of flavors was so good that it had me and my husband going back for a second plate full.
Now it was time for the entrees, Paul was all smiles as he greeted our table with bowls of spaghetti with meat sauce. Their secret sauce has been passed down through generations since the opening of the first Aurelio’s in the 1950’s. The flavors bursting out of the red sauce were a genuine Italian treat not to mention the authentic taste of the homemade sausage so delicately placed in the sauce.
Paul quickly started bringing out an amazing display of the most popular pizzas on the menu. The first pizza he brought out was the Tomato Spinach Mushroom Pizza displayed with fresh tomato, large mushrooms, infused together with spinach and mozzarella cheese. The Sausage and Cheese pizza was brought out with pride as Paul shared that all the homemade ingredients including the homemade sausage and red sauce were sent from Chicago weekly. The pineapple on the Hawaiian Pizza placed in front of me was glistening with flavor. The sweetness of the pineapple didn’t steal away the richness of the combination of ham, cheese, and red sauce. Paul finished his parade of pizzas with what is called the Super Six. This pizza was overflowing with goodness including sausage, cheese, ham, pepperoni, green peppers, and mushrooms. As if we were not already overwhelmed with all the wonderful display in front of us Paul had to bring out just one more item. The Spinach Calabrese Calzone, it was a sight that excited my husband the most. He loves a good calzone and you could tell this one was not going to disappoint. The homemade dough pocket was packed full with a variety of cheese and spinach. My husband couldn’t stop bragging about how good each bite was as it entered his mouth.
After eating everything Paul and Laura so generously filled our bellies with we were overwhelmed with the love that is placed in every ingredient strategically placed in the food. Not to mention the service from the staff was just as genuine as the food. We had a great experience at Aurelio’s and can’t wait to make this a regular date night spot.
